The film presents a distinct visual journey that traces the evolution of the Riyadh Metro project from its inception to the present day. Structured in thematic chapters, each segment carries intentional meaning and narrative weight, reflecting a story of transformation. Opening chapter begins with key national milestones of Saudi Arabia’s recent advancements. The narrative travels back in time revisiting Riyadh’s urban landmarks across various phases of expansion. The film then presents compelling facts and figures that highlight the scale and ambition of the metro initiative, concluding with its impact on the nation, the environment, the people, and the economy.
Challenges
The film aimed to build the metro brand on its inauguration day to be carved in the Saudi audience's minds. A special rig was designed to achieve metro's pov shot, with a technical challenge to be able to attach it. Moreover, the film was accompanied by great VFX efforts that were seamlessly combined with real footage throughout the film to form a cohesive visual narrative of the metro's progress. The film was shot in 5 out of the 6 metro lines that were functioning during the filming phase.
Impact
Metro POV shot became relevant to Metro Brand's identity. The famous CG Metro shot has gone viral and was used by all ministries and commissions in the kingdom. The official launching film for Riyadh Metro, on the day of the inauguration by King Salman.
Creative challenge
The main challenge was to capture the full magnitude of the Riyadh Metro, its history, relevance, and value, through a compelling and emotionally resonant visual narrative. Going through over 90 terabytes of archival material dating back to 2013 reflecting the project’s evolution. Documenting the architectural grandeur of the metro stations all while presenting the film as a national pride of Riyadh City and as a tribute to King Salman’s vision and legacy.
